Mountain Biking and Hiking

Rise, Shine, and Hit the Trails!

Timber Ridge Resort provides a variety of dirt trails for any level rider or hiker. Our trails connect to the VASA trail system which offers miles of exhilarating and scenic paths.  All of the trails are great for foot or tire so whether you hike or ride, you’re sure to enjoy the views.

Overnight guests are encouraged to bring their bikes and hiking shoes and head out right from their cabins or campsites. We even offer guests a chance to test their bike skills on our challenging yet fun mountain bike terrain park.

Each November, Timber Ridge Resort is the finish line to the highly popular annual Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race.  This annual event is attended by thousands of beginning to pro level mountain bike riders for an exciting day of riding when conditions are unpredictable.

VASA & Timber Ridge Trails

With the VASA Pathway trail-head connecting to Timber Ridge-maintained, on-site trails, there is a year-round flurry of activity on the trails.

Some people get confused about the two systems, so the easiest way to understand it is that Timber Ridge has its own trail system for hikers, bikers, skiers and snowshoers, about five kilometers, that is groomed and maintained by Timber Ridge Resort.  These trails link up to the miles and miles of VASA Pathway trails in the Pere Marquette State Forest. This system is well known and respected by outdoor enthusiasts and is the site of the annual North American VASA Festival of Races cross-country ski races.

X Country Ski, Snowshoe, and now Snowbikes too!

With the popularity of our trails, lit loops and adjacent VASA Pathway, we have made many neighborhood friends that we see exclusively in the wintertime. In addition to local residents, many “downstaters” are finding that our grounds make for a perfect “Up North” winter weekend. Our cozy lodge with fireplace and outdoor, circular fireplace often see guests mingling, warming their toes and enjoying a cup of cocoa.  Guests also enjoy skiing, snowshoeing or snowbiking right up to their cottage, which are heated and open year round.

Trails
Timber Ridge Resort is proud of our expanded park trail system that beckons locals and visiting guests alike to hike, bike, cross-country ski or snowshoe through the wooded surroundings. With the adjacent VASA trail system and trailhead, Timber Ridge is popular throughout the year to both outdoor sporting enthusiasts and novices.
